125 Maiden Lane – New York, New York
October 17, 2008 – January 30, 2009
John Powers’ Captain America is part of Metro Poles: Art in Action, a tri-borough collaborative art exhibition with the Jamaica Center for Art and Learning, Bronx River Art Centre, Asian American Arts Center, and Maiden Lane Exhibition Space. Metro Poles: Art in Action aims to foster collaborative activity among emerging contemporary artists and bring people to discover art organizations located off the beaten art path.
Captain America is curated by Elisabeth Akkerman and is sponsored by the Time Equities Inc. (TEI) Art-in-Buildings Program. Metro Poles was conceived by Heng-Gil Han, Jamaica Center for Art and Learning, with Jose Ruiz, Bronx River Art Centre, Robert Lee, Asian American Arts Centre, and Elisabeth Akkerman, Art-in-Buildings. TEI is committed to enriching the experience of our properties through the Art-in-Buildings Program, an innovative approach that brings contemporary art by emerging and mid-career artists to non-traditional exhibition spaces in the interest of promoting artists, expanding the audience for art, and creating a more interesting environment for our building occupants, residents, and their guests.
